¹ú²ú´«Ã½ will be hosting 22 Years of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on:
Monday, January 19, 2026!
The event will be entirely in-person and feature projects at our Galloway, Atlantic City, and Hammonton locations.
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is ¹ú²ú´«Ã½â€™s signature Annual Day of Service.
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service brings together over 500 students, community members, and community partners, often encompassing more than 15 projects both on- and off-campus. The goal of Days of Service is to provide an intensive, community-wide experience for students and to introduce them to partners with whom they can serve in the long term and develop ongoing relationships.
MLK Day of Service Community Engagement Award Nominations
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Planning Committee is pleased to announce the 22nd Annual Community Engagement Awards. This year, we will recognize three members of the Stockton Community - one Undergraduate Student, one Graduate Student, and one Student Club/Organization for their outstanding community engagement activities.

MLK Day of Service Program Agenda

Projects for 2026 Include:
- New Angles for Success - Participants will listen to a short presentation, tour the Stockton Science building, and participate in a backyard bass activity. Project Partner: Adam Aguiar
- Reusable T-Shirt Totes Project - Volunteers upcycle donated t-shirts into tote bags, which are then donated to local food assistance programs. Project Partner: Stockton Office of Community Engagement
- Dog Bed and Dog Toy-Making Activity: Volunteers will assist in making dog beds from fabric and dog toys from old t-shirts. All completed dog beds and toys will be donated to a local animal rescue. Project Partner: Stockton Office of Community Engagement and Stockton Action Volunteers for the Environment
- Friendship Bracelets, Snack Bag Assembly, Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Making, Suncatchers, Bookmarks, and Pick-Me-Up Jars– Volunteers will assist in making various products for donation to local non-profit organizations. Project Partner: Stockton Circle K
- Peanut Butter & Jelly and Self-Care Bag Making - Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches and self-care bags will be assembled and packaged for distribution to local food bank agencies. Project Partner: Muslim Student Association
- Saint John’s Hospice Frozen Casseroles - Volunteers will make casseroles for Saint John's Hospice, a homeless shelter in Center City, Philadelphia. The shelter accepts frozen pre-cooked casseroles, which they use as needed to feed the homeless. Off-Campus Project (van transportation will be provided to Stockton students, faculty, and staff; community members must provide their own transportation) Project Partner: Joseph Trout and the Newman Center
- Appreciation Cards for Local First Responders and Funny Farm Volunteer Appreciation Kits - Volunteers will create thank-you kits for the volunteers at the Funny Farm who volunteer throughout the winter and thank-you cards for local first responders. Project Partner: Atlantic County Community College
- Motivational Greeting Cards - Volunteers will write motivational greeting cards for individuals in the area. Project Partner: Omega Phi Beta Sorority
- Valentine's Cards and Activity Books - Volunteers will create Valentine's Day Cards and Activity Books for the residents of Altman Terrace in Atlantic City and the Pleasantville High Rise in Pleasantville. Project Partner: Stockton Office of Community Engagement
- Altman Terrace Community Room Cleanup - Volunteers will assist with cleaning and reorganizing the community room at Altman Terrace in Atlantic City. Project Partner: Stockton Office of Community Engagement
- Clothing Closet at Church by the Bay - Volunteers will assist with sorting and hanging donated clothing, stocking the food pantry, and packaging socks for distribution throughout Atlantic County. Project Partner: Church by the Bay
- Birthday Cards for Foster Youth - Volunteers will create birthday cards for youth in foster care. Project Partners: Light the Candle and Active Minds
- Crochet and Knit Beanies - Beanies will be created and donated to Viola's Place, a women's shelter in Williamstown. Project Partner: Stockton Yarn Project
- Diploma Preparation - Volunteers will prepare diploma covers for graduation. Project Partners: Laurie Griscom and Lindsay Beddiges
- Care Packages for Older Adults: Volunteers will create goodie bags of assorted items for older adults living at Altman Terrace and the Pleasantville High Rise. Project Partner: Stockton Office of Community Engagement
- Gift of Giving Community Care Kits - Volunteers will place donated personal care items (from local resorts and businesses) and treats into decorated bags with uplifting messages. The kits will be donated to the Community Food Bank, Sister Jean's Kitchen, and the Westminster Christian Worship Center. Project Partner: Atlantic City Operations
- Reusable T-Shirt Totes Project - Volunteers upcycle donated t-shirts into tote bags, which are then donated to local food assistance programs. The totes will be donated to Sister Jean's Kitchen in Atlantic City. Project Partner: Atlantic City Operations
- AC Rescue Mission Thrift Store Assistance - Volunteers will be transported over to the Rescue Mission’s Charity Thrift Store in Northfield from 10 am to 1 pm. They will assist with inventory management and sorting clothing. Off-Campus Project (van transportation will be provided to Stockton students, faculty, and staff; community members must provide their own transportation). Project Partner: Atlantic City Rescue Mission.
- T-Shirt Toys - Volunteers will use t-shirts to create braided chew toys for animals living in the Humane Society of Atlantic County and the Atlantic County Animal Shelter. Project Partner: Atlantic City Operations
- Eastern Service Workers Association Informational Canvassing - Volunteers will go door-to-door in the Chelsea area to explain the benefits of membership in the Eastern Service Workers Association. Project Partner: Eastern Service Workers Association
- Museum Archival Inventory - Volunteers will assist with sorting the artifact inventory of the African American Heritage Museum of South Jersey. Project Partner: Stockton African Studies Club
- Pet Nibbler - Volunteers will decorate cardboard tubes and fill them with kibble. The tubes will be donated to the Humane Society of Atlantic County and the Atlantic County Animal Shelter. Project Partner: Atlantic City Operations
- Read-In - Volunteers will meet at the Noyes Arts Garage on Saturday, January 17th, to read speeches by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This project is not on the MLK Day of Service. Project Partner:Atlantic City Public Library and the Noyes Arts Garage
- CPR/AED Training - Free CPR and AED training for up to ten individuals. Project Partners: Galloway Township Ambulance Squad
- Historical Society of Hammonton - Digitize hard-copy family tree projects created by local high school students. Assist in developing an oral history name cross-reference. Project Partner: Historical Society of Hammonton
- Peanut Butter and Jelly Making - Volunteers will assemble peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for donation to the Hammonton Family Success Center. Project Partner: Kramer Hall Hammonton
- Love Rock Art Painting - Volunteers will paint inspiring messages and imagery on rocks to spread positivity. The rocks will be placed around the campus and community. Project Partner: Stockton Counseling Students Association
