Dean Selected for National Educator Fellowship

David Fuentes, dean of the ��ý School of Education, has been named an Impact Academy fellow through national nonprofit organization Deans for Impact (DFI).

Fuentes, who started his role at Stockton on April 6, joins a cohort of 24 leaders chosen for their commitment to strengthening educator preparation and ensuring future teachers are prepared to meet the needs of all students.

"It is an honor to be selected as a 2026–27 Impact Academy Fellow with Deans for Impact. I am grateful for the opportunity to join a community of education leaders who are committed to strengthening educator preparation through research, collaboration and innovation,” Fuentes said.

Stockton’s School of Education offers four undergraduate teaching degree programs, two masters’ degree programs and an Educational Doctorate in Organizational Leadership degree. The university also has a program providing an alternate route for those who desire to teach in New Jersey.

Can Horseshoe Crabs Survive Sea Level Rise?

The Atlantic horseshoe crab outlived dinosaurs, but how long can they outlive rising sea level?

Paige Baney, of Brick, grew up seeing horseshoe crabs spawning on small segments of sandy beach along the Barnegat Bay during spring tides under full and new moons.

As a ��ý Coastal Zone Management master’s student and 2023 Marine Science graduate, they inspired her research project that created a habitat suitability index for horseshoe crabs at five Delaware Bay beaches.

The largest population of spawning horseshoe crabs in the world bury their eggs in the sand along New Jersey’s 52 miles and Delaware’s 50 miles of Delaware Bay coastline.

For 20 years, Students Solve ‘Murders’ at CSI Camp

Zoe Gandolfo has grown up listening to true crime stories with her dad.

“He listens to a lot of it, and he’s passed that down to me,” said the sophomore from Hudson County Schools of Technology. “I find it so interesting how the smallest mistakes can have a big effect and how things can go wrong. One piece of misplaced evidence can ruin a whole case.”

Last week at ��ý, Gandolfo went from listening and reading about true crime stories to participating in one — sort of.

The Weehawken native took part in the university’s extremely popular CSI Camp, which is celebrating its 20th year this summer. The camp was founded by Criminal Justice professors Christine Tartaro and Joshua Duntley who run three week-long camps of about 30 students each. The duo know that the major is one of Stockton’s most in demand, and they wanted to capitalize on the surge of TV shows like “CSI” and its many spinoffs.

“With the popularity of all of the crime shows there’s so much misinformation out there,” Tartaro said. “Students are coming to college having a very unrealistic idea of the careers and what is real and what isn’t. This camp helps students figure that out, and we help to guide them to what are more realistic career options.”

Three Ospreys Qualify for NABC Honors Court

Stockton men's basketball players Andrew Crawford, Devon Johnson and Colin Raimann for the 2025-26 NABC Honors Court from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes men's basketball players in all three NCAA Divisions plus the NAIA for their academic achievement. In order to qualify, players must be a junior or senior with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher at the conclusion of the 2025-26 academic year.

The NABC's academic awards are presented annually to teams and athletes from all levels of college basketball. Crawford, Johnson and Raimann were among over 2,300 players nationwide who earned spots on the NABC Honors court.

All three players received the recognition for the first time. Crawford is majoring in business administration, while Johnson and Raimann are exercise science majors. In addition, the trio were NJAC All-Academic selections, with Crawford adding a CSC All-Academic All-District nod as well.

Noyes Museum Leads Chelsea Community Celebration

The helped bring a community celebration of soccer, art and culture to Atlantic City’s Chelsea neighborhoods as part of New Jersey’s statewide North to Shore Festival.

The family-friendly event featured interactive arts programming, music, food, youth activities, wellness initiatives and community engagement. The celebration transformed the park into a vibrant gathering space that highlighted Atlantic City’s cultural diversity and strengthened neighborhood connections through creative placemaking.

The event was coordinated by Michael Cagno, executive director of the Noyes Museum; Stephanie Clineman, coordinator of programming and assistant to the vice president for Community Engagement; Luis Paz, assistant women’s soccer coach; Stockton students Sandy Hanna, Emma Martin and Amanda Tague; and Stockton alumni Citlalli Roman-Sanchez and Kaysey Nguyen.

Confirm Your Ospreys in Summer Session III

Happy Summer, faculty! As Summer Session III has begun, it's almost time to Confirm your Ospreys!

Faculty are reminded to complete the Academic Engagement (formerly Roster Verification) process by confirming student attendance/academic activity. If you are teaching a course(s) in Summer Session III, please complete the Academic Engagement process ASAP.

The Office of Financial Aid will use this information to make adjustments to student financial aid disbursements based on each student's confirmed number of credits.

Each instructor will be responsible for confirming student attendance or participation in an academic activity. For online courses, faculty are reminded to include an assignment or discussion activity during the add/drop period so that the student's attendance can be confirmed.
